Studio Catnip

Studio Catnip is an umbrella initiative from the Catnip Foundation, from where the space is created to bring multiple projects to life through new collaborations.

From the beginning of 2022, thanks to the PLANETART foundation, Catnip Foundation may start running its own permanent studio from a self-built space in creative incubator WARP Technopolis. The new studio will be directly connected to the SPACEBAR and breeding place WARP, and will continue to actively use the stage of the well-known cyberpunk bar with its initiatives.

Studio Catnip is an umbrella initiative from the Catnip Foundation, from where the space is created to bring multiple projects to life through new collaborations, including with Meet-Up Enschede.

Studio Catnip will be built in the main entrance of WARP. A door in the left wall will connect the live streaming studio to the stage of the SPACEBAR.

Studio Catnip will be an interesting sight for everyone who passes by Stationsplein on their way to the inner city or trainstation.

Studio Catnip is party inspired by the work of artist Tom Sachs. Kees de Groot, as an artist, will design the outer exterior of the space.

Studio Catnip will always Livestream or record the events. This is part of being resilient and agile, even during pandemics and worldwars. So that everyone can take part no matter the situation.

Goal

The aim of Studio Catnip is to make sure there’s something happening every day of the week on the stage of the SPACEBAR, centrally located at the Stationsplein in Enschede.

Catnip Studio will encourage and support experimentation, innovation, and the co-creation of art and music through its projects. Experimentation, expanding your network, strengthening knowledge and experience, and personal growth is always paramount.

For who?

Studio Catnip is for everyone who is into art, creativity, technology and/or electronic music. This includes people of all ages, from laymen to professionals, but mainly students of ArtEZ Conservatory, AKI ArtEZ, University of Twente, and Saxion. Everything produced through Studio Catnip is innovative and accessible to a wide audience.

A little bit more personal

My name is Annebel. Since I arrived here for my studies in 2017, I’ve always kept myself busy by participating/creating local projects, organizations, and communities. For example, I founded the DroneTeam at the University of Twente (https://droneteamtwente.nl), I was sitting at the University Council for a year and I was part of the business developer team of Space53, amongst other activities.

Nowadays, I have a tech startup, and I lead the “Meet-Up Enschede” (MUE) community. MUE has now about 1K members and is growing rapidly! MUE has the goal of facilitating community building by organizing “open-for-all” types of events, as well as dedicated smaller communities.
For example, from MUE I have spun off an entrepreneurial community called HardStart, which hosts monthly gatherings. From the 1k members, I aim to initiate multiple smaller communities that can bring people together in Enschede under a common theme or goal.

I am looking to bring MUE to the next level so the community can be sustainable and keep life in Enschede busy with full of fun, quality events of all sorts. I have many ideas, and I am always up for a coffee to share them.
